Overview of Initial Assignment
As a Senior Mainframe Consultant, you will be responsible for leveraging your expertise in BMC Mainframe Services (BMS) to design, implement, and optimize mainframe solutions for our clients. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide technical guidance, and drive excellence in mainframe operations. This role requires in-depth knowledge of BMC Mainframe Services, as well as strong problem-solving skills, leadership abilities, and a customer-focused mindset.
Key Responsibilities
• BMC Mainframe Services Expertise: Demonstrate mastery of BMC Mainframe Services (BMS) tools, BMC tools, BMC Home. Develop and maintain a deep understanding of BMC product updates, enhancements, and best practices.
• Consulting and Solution Design: Work closely with clients to understand their business needs and technical requirements. Design and architect solutions based on BMC Mainframe Services that align with client objectives and industry best practices.
• Implementation and Optimization: Implement and configure BMC Mainframe Services solutions, ensuring seamless integration with existing mainframe environments. Optimize mainframe processes, job scheduling, and resource utilization to enhance performance and efficiency.
• Technical Leadership: Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and mentor junior team members. Provide guidance and recommendations for continuous improvement of mainframe operations.
• Client Collaboration: Collaborate with clients and internal teams to gather requirements, resolve issues, and ensure client satisfaction. Communicate technical concepts and solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of BMC Mainframe Services configurations, processes, and procedures. Generate regular reports and performance metrics for clients and management.
Skills & Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Minimum of 10-15 years of experience as a Mainframe Engineer with a focus on BMC Mainframe Services (BMS).
• Proficiency in BMC Home – Service Management, Automation, Operations & Mainframe tools
• Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., JCL, REXX, Python) for mainframe automation.
• Proven ability to design and implement mainframe solutions that improve performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex mainframe issues.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective client interaction.
• Relevant certifications in BMC Mainframe Services or mainframe technologies are a plus.
