Overview of Initial Assignment
As a Senior DevOps SME, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our DevOps strategy. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance our software development lifecycle, reduce time-to-market, and improve the overall efficiency of our operations. This role demands extensive expertise in DevOps methodologies, automation, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and infrastructure as code (IAC).
Key Responsibilities
• DevOps Strategy: Develop and execute the DevOps strategy, including implementing best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Design, implement, and manage Infrastructure as Code solutions to automate and streamline the provisioning and management of infrastructure resources.
• CI/CD Pipeline: Establish and maintain robust Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate software delivery, testing, and deployment processes.
• Containerization: Implement containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) to enhance scalability and resource utilization.
• Monitoring and Logging: Set up monitoring, alerting, and logging systems to proactively identify and resolve issues in the production environment.
• Security and Compliance: Ensure that DevOps practices adhere to security and compliance standards, implementing security measures at every stage of the development lifecycle.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with development, operations, and quality assurance teams to foster a culture of collaboration and transparency.
• Training and Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members and stakeholders, sharing your expertise and promoting knowledge transfer.
• Problem Resolution: Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide innovative solutions to address them effectively.
• Documentation: Create and maintain clear and concise documentation of DevOps processes, procedures, and configurations.
Skills & Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 10-15 years of experience in DevOps, system administration, or related roles.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD concepts and hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and serverless architecture.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Ruby).
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and code branching strategies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong commitment to automation and efficiency.
• Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or similar, are a plus.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
