Driving Towards Net Zero by 2028
At Brickendon, we recognise that addressing climate change is not merely a corporate obligation; it is a collective and urgent responsibility. As we navigate a changing global landscape, we are steadfast in our commitment to enhancing the resilience of our business, our clients and our wider supply chain to withstand the challenges posed by a warming planet.
To demonstrate this, we are proud to publish our formal Carbon Reduction Plan, outlining our ambitious roadmap to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2028.
Establishing Our Baseline and Progress
Recognising that accurate measurement is the foundation of effective change, we utilised 2023 as our baseline year to quantify our greenhouse gas footprint. In that inaugural reporting year, our total emissions stood at 67.044 tCO2e across Scopes 1, 2 and 3.
Since then, we have made significant strides. Our current reporting for 2025 shows a substantial decrease in our environmental impact, with total emissions dropping to 33.242 tCO2e. This progress is a direct result of dedicated environmental management measures and initiatives implemented across our UK operations, which have already achieved an emission reduction equating to 74.888 tCO2e, which is a 60% reduction against our 2026 target trajectory.
Our Roadmap to 2028
Our strategy for reaching the objective is comprehensive, targeting absolute reductions across all emission scopes:
- Near-Term Focus: We have committed to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 60% by 2026, alongside targeted reductions in Scope 3 categories, including business travel, employee commuting and emissions related to remote work and client site operations.
- Long-Term Vision: By 2028, we aim for a 100% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a complete reduction in all measured Scope 3 categories, including purchased goods, capital goods and all forms of transportation.
As a business where up to 80% of our employees operate remotely or on client sites, we are uniquely positioned to leverage flexible working to our advantage. We are continuing to enhance our remote working policies, which demonstrate a 54% carbon reduction compared to traditional office-based work, while simultaneously prioritising the use of renewable electricity at our serviced office locations.
This plan has been formally reviewed and signed off by our board of directors, ensuring that sustainability remains at the core of our strategic decision-making as we drive towards a sustainable future.
